A work by Ito Jakuchu, a painter who painted original paintings in Kyoto in the middle of the Edo period.
Among the works of Jakuchu, who is called a ``fantastic painter,'' this work is distinctive, and is drawn using techniques called ``square painting'' and ``mosaic painting.''
Innumerable squares are created on the screen and light colors are used as the ground color, and dark colors and shadows are added to each square to form a color surface that gives a sense of three-dimensionality.
The right screen is "Beast Exhaustion" with a white elephant as the main character, and the scenery where various birds and beasts gather on the waterside, from familiar real things to imaginary creatures, is finished as a high-quality large-sized wall sticker.
